Deinonychus Terrible Claw by Grays-raptor-flock Deinonychus Terrible Claw by Grays-raptor-flock
This was done in PowerPoint. The outline came from a drawing I did of Deinonychus. I did this because I have not seen a good-looking, at least somewhat accurate, Deinonychus silhouette out there.

Good silhouette, would like to see the drawing it came from, too!

Scott Hartman has made a nice (free use) Deinonychus silhouette here, too: phylopic.org/image/ec8256ae-2e…

Wow!  That looks pretty awesome!  I do not think I've seen that one before.  And just so you know, I really admire your artwork.  Your reconstructions of dinosaurs are very convincing and I love the detail you put in to them.  Thank you for showing me that silhouette.

And I'll put the drawing up, too.

Thanks!  Actually, some scientists used to think that Deinonychus was a type of Velociraptor.  Since Deinonychus was much larger than Velociraptor, they used him instead but, the movie directors decided that Deinonychus was too hard of a name to use and pronounce. Since Deinonychus was a "type of Velociraptor", they used the easier name (Velociraptor) instead.

Thanks again for commenting and having these awesome fellas as your favorite dinosaur.

i remember going to a "science of jurassic park" exhibit at a museum and them mentioning it. Something like Veloci was the size of wolves and pack hunters and the Deino's were the big ones like in the movie. Sides Velociraptor just sounds so much more terrifying lol. Love them both and drew them so many times as a kids and hung veloci posters all over my room. weird for a girl to love dino's so much lol
